This week we had the ISM Symposium! It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience! I made sure to get there early to set up my board and my original work. In addition, I was able to gain a cardiology contact to interview! His name is Dr. Jay Patel and he works in California. I still need to reach out to them, but I plan to do so over the weekend. I also was able to chat with other students and learn from their ISM journey. For example, I talked with a student who is studying pediatric oncology. I learned that she was able to obtain a mentor by sending out blast emails and contacting UT Southwestern, a hospital I have not contacted yet. I plan to take her advice and find more contacts over the weekend to contact.

In addition, I was able to complete another research assessment. This article went in depth on the positive effects of K2 intake and how this vitamin is very beneficial to cardiovascular health. I plan to add this information in my original work to help others learn how to prevent the onset of cardiac disease.

As a whole, this week was very interesting and has helped me formulate the next steps in finding a mentor.
