New Perspectives: Nov 8th - 14th

This week was very exciting! I had my first interview, which was with Dr. Binita Parikh. She gave insight into the importance of compassion in the medical field and also allowed me to learn about the daily life of a family medicine specialist in a hospital. To add on, she is planning to give me more cardiology contacts to add to my network and possibly get an interview, which is amazing!

In addition, I had my first Mayor’s Youth Council meeting and I loved the experience! This program selects 2-3 students from each Frisco school to come to meet every month to discuss initiatives for the city. It was very interesting to get more diverse perspectives from students in the city.

Lastly, in ISM I presented my first research speech. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but overall I did pretty well! However, I learned that I have to work on not saying filler words (such as um, uh). I hope to take this into account next time and improve on this skill.

Overall, this week was super eventful, but it was very informative eye-opening!
