Shadowing Troubles and Showcase: Jan 17th - Jan 23rd

During this week, I have started to apply to medical opportunities such as MD Anderson’s high school cancer research program. I believe that getting exposure to this type of research in the field will further my ISM learning and take it to the next level.

Regarding shadowing, I am still currently waiting back to hear from Dr. Parmar. I am still hopeful, but I have begun trying to get more cardiology contacts to interview in case this opportunity does not work out. One thing I do regret is that I stopped trying to contact cardiologists after my interview with Dr. Parmar. This experience taught me that it is best to continue reaching out to others to keep on learning and gaining new insights.

In addition, the ISM showcase is officially set! I have begun planning out how I will present my information through my display board. I am excited to take that opportunity to network. In addition, I am curious as to other students across FISD’s experience with ISM, particularly those in the medical field. I personally have definitely struggled due to the challenges of the pandemic, so I want to learn how others were able to handle it.
