The Start: Aug 30th - Sept 5th

In the first week of Ism, it has been quite welcoming! I have gotten the chance to get to know my classmates quite well. I have also been developing my website and have finished the initial bare-bones or structure of the website. In addition, I was also able to complete my first research assessment. This assessment taught me valuable researching and citation skills. However, I have realized that as I have many interests, I am not sure which path I should take for ISM this year. Initially, I was conflicted between pursuing Dermatology or Biochemistry, but now I have ruled out Biochem. That left me with Dermatology but then I started researching more about medicine and realized that Cardiology seems very interesting as well. That leaves me stuck between the medical specialties of Dermatology and Cardiology. The medical field has so many interesting subparts that it feels hard to choose. I am hopeful I will be able to decide soon. I have conducted some research in the area and my goal is to have decided on the specialty by next week. In the meanwhile, I have also been working on my contact list in order to develop my network and be prepared for interviews in the future!

In general, I am excited to learn more about medicine and to see where this year will take me in ISM!
